Reports to: Programmes Manager

Job Summary: Facilitates communication between hearing and deaf or hard of hearing individuals in classrooms and meetings using Ugandan Sign Language or other manual sign system; serves as a liaison between deaf or hard of hearing communities, hearing students and instructors; and performs related work as required. He/she will provide oversight, direction and guidance for the CIDP Project advocacy strategy working with multiple stakeholders at national, district and communities.

Job Requirements: 

  • A  diploma in Sign Language interpretation and Translation from a reputable institution, 
  • Proven work experience in sign language interpretation and translation
  • Established network with organisations for persons with disability, government departments and Ministries
  • Training in project planning and management is an added advantage.
  • Person with a disability is an added advantage.

Job related experience and knowledge:

  • At least 2 (Two) years’ experience in sign language interpretation and translation   
  • Registered with relevant professional bodies
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders at different levels
  • Ability to solve technical problems independently or in teams.
  • Should have a good team spirit, positive attitude and cope well under pressure.
