 Mildmay Institute of Health Sciences in partnership with Mildmay Uganda, National Council of Persons with Disabilities of Uganda (NCPWD), and  National Union of Disabled Persons of Uganda (NUDIPU) launched the National Steering Committee for the Comprehensive and Inclusive Disability Prevention (CIDP)  program at Hotel Africana. The Program is funded by Christian Blind Mission and implements programs in Nakasongola and Nakaseke Districts. 
During the Launch, Mr. Prosper Muhumuza, Commissioner Disability and the Elderly, Ministry of Gender Labour, and Social Development (MoGLSD), applauded the members for the commitment towards supporting Disability Prevention. “I am excited that we are coming together to contribute towards disability prevention mechanisms through CIDP. I pledge total support from  the Ministry.” 
Dr. Jackie Kwesiga, Country Director Christian Blind Mission(CBM), appreciated the role of all partners and committed to support initiatives aimed Disability prevention at Household, Community and Country at large. Edith Akankwasa, Program Director, CIDP appreciated the partners for the great support and commitment towards disability prevention and pledged outstanding partnership and stewardship of resources under the program with great impact to the communities that are targeted. 
The National Steering Committee will coordinate strategic national disability prevention agenda under the Comprehensive and Inclusive Disability Program. Members on the Committee include Ministry of Gender Labour and Social Development, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health, District Health Officers from Nakasongola and Nakaseke, National Council of  Persons with Disabilities, National Union of Disabled Persons of Uganda(NUDIPU), Mulago Hospital Neural Department, Mengo hospital eye department, CURE Hospital Mbale, CORSU hospital, Kiruddu hospital, National Curriculum Development Center(NCDC), Uganda Medical and Dental Council, Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council, Allied Health Professionals’ Council, Uganda Society of Disabled Children, and Uganda Parents of Persons with Intellectual disabilities.
